Abbotsford, BC, police say three youths and a man were arrested in two separate weapons calls Friday night.

Sergeant. Paul Walker with Abbotsford Police told Global News the first call came in around 8 p.m., describing youths with weapons at the bus loop on Mount Lehman Road.

Walker said officers arrived at the “chaotic” scene and quickly identified the three youths and arrested them.

They found “very realistic-looking” BB guns, Walker said, and a can of bear spray.

Walker said it appeared to be a dispute between two groups of youths who did not know each other and that BB guns were discharged during the incident and struck several other youths nearby.

He added that officers must treat calls to arms as actual weapons unless they can determine otherwise.

“As parents, when our kids leave the house, we really need to understand if they have these realistic-looking firearms that they have on their farms or properties that they can use them on, as parents. we need To make sure our kids don’t leave home with those things, bringing them into the community and then engaging in what I would describe as criminal activity and putting people’s lives at risk,” Walker said.

He added that other calls to arms involved two groups who knew each other and met to try to resolve the dispute. When that didn’t go well, a man produced a replica weapon and the police were called at the same time.

In that case the person was an adult.
