Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived on a two -day visit to Mauritius. He welcomed him at Port Louis Airport, Moresi’s PM Naveen Chandra Ramgulam. PM Modi will be the chief guest in celebrating the National Day of Mauritius on March 12. On Tuesday evening, PM Modi addressed the people of Indian origin.

PM Modi said, “Friends, whenever I come to Mauritius, it seems as if I came among my people. The air, soil and water here feel unity. The aroma of India is present in the songs and witnesses, in the beating of Dholak, in Dalpuri, Kuchha and Gatopima. And this is also natural, because the blood and sweat of our ancestors are mixed with the soil here. We are all part of the same family.

Honor and pride of Indianity

In his address, PM Modi said, “The things that Prime Minister Ramgulam said have come directly. I will sincerely thank these expressions. The people and the government have decided to give me the highest civilian honor. I humbly accept this decision. This honor is a symbol of historical relationships and also honors Indians who served this land from generation to generation and took Mauritius to heights. I warmly thank the people of Mauritius and the government for this honor.

Why is sugar called Moras in Gujarat?

PM Modi said in his address, ‘This time the colors of Holi will spread even after one day in Mauritius. On the 14th, the colors will take place all around. Ram will have a drummer in his hand, Lakshman’s hand will have a manjira, Bharat’s hand will be pitched and Abir and Jogira will be in the hands of Shatrughan. How can I forget the sweetness of Gujia when Holi comes now? There was a time when sugar was also brought from Mauritius for sweets in the western part of India. Perhaps this was the reason why ‘sugar’ was also called ‘Moras’ in Gujarati. With this sweetness of relations between India and Mauritius, I warmly congratulate all the inhabitants of Mauritius on National Day.

The water of the confluence reached Mauritius

PM Modi said, “I know that many families have come from Mauritius recently to participate in the Mahakumbh organized in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. This was an event that shocked the whole world. This was the largest gathering ever in human history. More than 65 million devotees, including people of Mauritius, came to this grand program. But I also know that many families of Mauritius could not participate in this epic of unity even though they want. I understand your feelings. Therefore, I have collected the holy water of the sacred confluence for you and the same time of the epic. This sacred water will be offered in Ganga Lake tomorrow. Look, what a pleasant coincidence! Fifty years ago, Ganga water brought from Gomukh was also offered in Ganga Lake here and history is going to be repeated. My prayer is that Mauritius reaches new heights, rich and successful with this sacred offering of Mother Ganga and Maha Kumbh.
