The Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ busy week continued as general manager Kyle Walters made another notable signing to bolster their defense.
The Bombers re-signed starting defensive back Evan Holman to a one-year contract extension on Wednesday to help bolster their secondary.
The 26-year-old avoided free agency in 2023 to return for a fourth season with the club after being selected as a West Division All-Star.
Holm started every game at halfback last year, including the regular season and playoffs. He set a new career Best with a team-leading 85 defensive tackles.

Tyrell Ford and Brandon Alexander are now the only two starters from their secondary that remain unsigned.
The Bombers GM said he expects to be more active in free agency than in past years when he retained nearly all of his starters.
“We’ll grow a piece here or there, I think we’re pretty steady than other years,” Walters told reporters from the CFL’s annual winter meeting. “And there are a bunch of variables. We still have some money set aside for some pieces and depending on how that goes down, we may have to pivot. So, once you get to this time of year with the allocation of funds and how those funds are spent, it’s very fluid.”
The Bombers also signed Willie Jefferson, Dillon Mitchell, Kyrie Wilson and Shane Gauthier to new contracts this week.
The Bombers are down to 19 free agents with the free agency period beginning on February 11.
