Baldwin was tried for involuntary manslaughter in the on-set death of “Rust” cinematographer Helena Hutchins on October 21, 2021. The actor grabbed a gun, with a bullet hitting Hutchins and killing him.

In July 2024, Baldwin’s case was dismissed with prejudice by Judge Mary Marlow Sommer, and the prosecutor withheld evidence from his legal team following the verdict.

An additional appeal was made by the Santa Fe District Attorney’s Office to try Baldwin again, but it was withdrawn in December.
