South Africa have been dealt a major blow even before the start of the Champions Trophy, which starts on February 19. The team’s fast bowler Enrique Nortje has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. Enrique Nortje has a back problem and will miss the tournament next month.

Due to injury, Enrique Nortje was also not seen in the ODI World Cup played on Indian soil. He played his last ODI 15 months ago. The fast bowler was taken for a scan on Monday, which revealed the extent of his injury. According to the medical report, he will not be fit for the Champions Trophy.

Enrique Nortje played his last international match for South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup, where the Proteas lost to India. He has not been part of the South African team since then. He was selected in the squad for the Champions Trophy. Nortje will also not be seen playing in the remaining matches of the South Africa T20 League. Nortje is known to beat even the Best batsmen with his pace. The South African team is yet to announce Nortje’s replacement.
