The government’s main ‘Khelo India’ program, which is meant to find and develop athletes at a basic level, has benefited the most, as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday increased the central budget by Rs 351.98 crore in sports and youth matters.
3794.30 crore to the Ministry of Sports
A total of Rs 3794.30 crore has been allocated to the Ministry of Sports and Sports. This increase is very noticeable because there is no major sports event like the Olympics, the Commonwealth and the Asian Games in the next one year.
India wants to do 2036 Olympic Games
The amount kept for assisting the National Sports Federation has also been increased from Rs 340 crore to Rs 400 crore. India currently wants to host the 2036 Olympic Games, and has spoken to the International Olympic Committee.
Along with this, the allocation for the Nodal Institute, Sports Authority of India (SAI) has been increased from Rs 815 crore to Rs 830 crore.
NADA’s budget also increased
The budget of the anti -national doping agency has been increased from Rs 20.30 crore to Rs 24.30 crore. The contribution to the National Sports Development Fund made in 1998 will be Rs 18 crore for the second consecutive year, while the government has decided to reduce the grant to promote players from Rs 42.65 crore to Rs 37 crore this year.
Big gift for sports facilities in Jammu and Kashmir
In Jammu and Kashmir, a fund of Rs 20 crore has been approved to increase sports facilities, which is Rs 14 crore more than last year. A large part of the increased budget will go into the National Service Scheme, which will cost Rs. 450 crore, which is Rs. 200 million more.
