The Catch The Rain Campaign has been launched by the Central Government’s Water Power Ministry for Rain Water Conservation. The project has been started to raise the water level by removing the rainwater on the public road. In the rainy season, large amounts of water is diverted into rivers through sewer over the roads. But under the Catch The Rain Project, the campaign to unload the water in the ground is about to begin.
AMC AD. Chief Engineer Yashpal Prabhakar said that a unique initiative has been taken by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation under the ‘Catch of Rain’ campaign launched by the Union Water Power Ministry for Rain Water Conservation. Under the ‘Catch of Rain’ campaign, a roof-top rain-water harvesting system will be installed on about 1800 buildings owned by AMC. In the first phase, the operation of the Roof-Top Rain-Water Harvesting System installation has begun at a cost of approximately 5.50 crore in 400 building premises. The operation will be completed before the next monsoon season.
Under the initiative, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, owned by various zonal offices, ward-offices, hospitals, municipal schools, Urban Health Centers, Libraries, Water Distribution Stations, Drainage Pumping Stations, etc. Installed and operated within a period of 1.5 years.

In the first phase, the operation of such a roof-top rain-water harvesting system installation has been started in 400 building premises owned by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, under which 120 units will be installed and the remaining monsoon will be completed before the next monsoon.
Through this operation, Narmada water can be saved by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation daily and the water level of the land can be improved by bringing high water level of land.
