
Ahmedabad: Once again Gujarat University which is the largest university of the state has been caught in controversy. The head of the university’s statistics department has been embroiled in a controversy over an anonymous complaint against him. In that too, allegations have been made against this professor of the university regarding the CCTV installed in the ladies room in the department. However, the professor has denied the allegations. They have also shown readiness to provide full cooperation in any kind of investigation. On the other hand, the authorities of Gujarat University have refrained from taking action by stating that no action can be taken as this complaint is anonymous.
Allegations have been made against one more professor of Gujarat University. Professor of Statistics Department Prof. Pravinder’s letter of harassing girl students has gone viral. A 36-page complaint has been filed against him.
The letter mentions that the professors are watching the students on CCTV cameras. The letter mentions that there is a CCTV in the ladies room of the statistics department. In the letter, it is alleged that the teachers are watching the students on the CCTV cameras. Apart from this, it has also been mentioned that the professor takes different charges for different services. He has also been accused of charging 1500 for proving false attendance. There has also been a complaint about the teacher taking ‘Pravinder Service Tax’. It is mentioned that the government collects GST but the professor collects ‘PST’ and the professor collects different charges for various services. Also, there is an allegation of charging Rs 500-500 for internal mark, late submission fee, Vivana mark, ST bus and train stamp. It has also been mentioned that the students were allowed to write the blank answer book at home and Rs 500 per supplementary was charged for the convenience of signing the blank answer book and writing the paper at home.

Importantly, HOD Associate Professor of Statistics Department of Gujarat University Pravinder said that I have no knowledge about the complaint made against me. Ever since I became the HOD in this department, CCTV cameras were already installed in every room. No additional cameras have been installed since my arrival. I am not aware of any complaints. I have no knowledge about CCTV. Any complaint made against me is baseless. I am ready for investigation. If the government investigates Gujarat University or anyone and calls me for questioning, I will be present and cooperate.
While Gujarat University Chancellor Neerja Gupta said that no person is named in the complaint. Name application has been made. According to the order of the Supreme Court, if a nominal application is made, no investigation is done. However, the chancellor of Gujarat University said that if any such incident has happened and any student has suffered, he should inform us. We will keep his name confidential and investigate. However, there is no need to investigate the matter now, as the application is anonymous.
