The state government has taken an important decision. The limit of income for admission in RTE has been increased. From now on, parents with income limit of 6 lakh will now be able to fill the children’s forms. Earlier, there was a limit of 1.20 lakh in rural areas and 1.5 lakh in urban areas. Guardians will be able to fill the online form by April 15.

Ahmedabad: Under the Right to Education (RTE) law, the biggest news has come up for parents and students who want to admit to school. Millions of children of poor and low -income families in Gujarat have been studying under RTE till now. Now the income limit has been increased to ensure that this law benefits more people.

The income limit was increased

Until now, the total annual income of the family was up to Rs 1.20 lakh to get admission in the school under the Right to Education (RTE) Act across the state. But now the state government has increased it. Now, the income limit has been made at Rs 6 lakh for admission under RTE. Which has been officially announced.

RTE form term extended

The deadline for filling the form in RTE has been extended. RTE in the academic year 2025-26 The last date for filling the online form for admission was extended to 12:00 hours on the night of 16/03/2025. However, the deadline for filling up the online form for admission along with the additional announcement of RTE’s income limit. 15/04/2025 has been extended by 12.00pm.

What is this RTE?

A compulsory education act has been implemented in private schools to children of poor and disadvantaged groups of Gujarat, in which poor and disadvantaged children are given the right to receive education in private schools. Every child in the country has the right to receive education so that some seats in private schools are reserved for children under RTE.

Purpose of the Right to Education Act 2009

  • The purpose of this law is to provide free primary education to every child between the ages of 6 to 14 years.
  • Complete the mandatory registration, attendance and primary education of each child in the age group of 6 to 14 years.
  • Under Article 6, children have the right to admit any school in the neighborhood.
  • This law ensures that children of weaker classes and disadvantaged groups cannot be discriminated against.
  • If there is a child who has not been able to take admission in any school at the age of 6, he can get admission in class later.
  • If there is no provision for completing primary education in any school, the student will be given the right to transfer any other school.
  • Private and special category schools will also have to reserve 25% of seats in Class 1 for economically weaker community children.
  • No child can refuse to admit to school even after the date of admission is passed.
  • Any child will not be prevented from entering any category or removed from school.
  • Children in the school will not be given any physical and mental torture.
