Google and Andhra Pradesh team up to accelerate AI innovation and adoption across the state, ET HealthWorld

New Delhi: Google has announced a collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh government to accelerate the deployment and adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across the state. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), will advance the development and implementation of AI solutions, focusing on key areas such as healthcare and sustainability, while prioritizing digital infrastructure enhancement, AI skill development and support for the local startup ecosystem. .

The MoU was exchanged in Amaravati in the presence of Nara Lokesh, Minister of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications and Human Resource Development of Andhra Pradesh; Between Bikram Singh Bedi, Vice President and Country MD, Google Cloud India and S Suresh Kumar, Secretary, Real Time Governance Society, Andhra Pradesh.

Under this MoU, Google will collaborate with the Andhra Pradesh government to integrate AI and ML solutions in critical areas such as healthcare and environmental sustainability. The collaboration will also focus on bridging the digital divide by promoting skills development and providing citizens with the training and resources they need to thrive in an AI-driven economy. Additionally, Google will collaborate to support the state’s startup ecosystem, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of AI.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu said, “We are delighted to partner with Google to integrate AI solutions and accelerate the development of Andhra Pradesh. This collaboration is aligned with our vision to use technology for the betterment of our citizens. Our goal is to empower every individual and business by harnessing the power of AI, creating a rich environment for innovation and growth across the state.”

Bikram Singh Bedi, Vice President and Country MD, Google Cloud India said, “This collaboration with the Government of Andhra Pradesh is another step in our commitment to promote an inclusive and sustainable digital future for India. We are excited to combine Google’s AI expertise with the state’s vision to cultivate an AI-ready workforce, support local startups, and address areas such as healthcare and sustainability. We look forward to partnering with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to unlock the transformative potential of AI to drive progress, improve lives and promote growth and inclusion across the state.” Major initiatives under this MoU including:

Skill development and education: Google Cloud will also collaborate with the government to provide skill programs for government agencies, including Google Cloud certifications and skill badges in areas such as cybersecurity, data analytics and generative AI. Additionally, Google will provide resources and support to educators to meet the growing demand for computer science education. The skill initiative will also include Google’s developer community programs and Android and app skill development training.

Startup Ecosystem Enablement: Google will work with the Andhra Pradesh startup ecosystem to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, provide mentorship and networking opportunities, and access Google for Startups Accelerator programs. In addition, eligible AI startups will receive cloud credits, technical training and business support.

Durability: Applying AI to help solve challenges related to air quality, urban planning and disaster management.

Healthcare: Catalyzing the adoption of AI in healthcare to improve access to quality care and enhance patient outcomes. These include providing access to health AI imaging models through partners, exploring applications of generative AI in healthcare through large language models (LLMs), supporting research initiatives through the Health AI Developer Foundations (HAI-DEF).

AI Pilots: Google will collaborate on pilot projects in key areas on the benefits of cloud technology and AI in areas such as agriculture, traffic management, website modernization and citizen grievance redressal among others.
