Israel and Hamas have reached an agreement on a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. After this, Joe Biden said that with this, the proposed IMEC Corridor from India through West Asia to Europe can now take a real shape in the near future. A meeting of 8 countries was held in New Delhi regarding this corridor
Israel and Hamas have agreed on a ceasefire and the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip. There was a truce between the two. Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden said that restoring peace in West Asia would also benefit the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC). He said that the proposed IMEC corridor from India to Europe via West Asia could now take a real shape.
A meeting of 8 countries was held in Delhi
A meeting between eight countries was held in New Delhi in the year 2023 regarding IMEC. It included India, America, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, European Union, France, Germany and Italy. In this project, the IMEC Corridor project was stopped in October 2023 due to the outbreak of war between Hamas and Israel.
China is the biggest challenge in IMEC
The biggest challenge for this project is China. The project is being seen as a counter to China’s Belt and Road Initiative. According to a recent report by the Hudson Institute think-tank, the IMEC initiative helps position India as a key player in reshaping global supply chains and trade routes.
How will this IMEC be connected?
Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust will be connected at Mundra, Kandla and Navi Mumbai in Gujarat, India. After this, it will join Fujairah, Jebel Ali and Abu Dhabi in the UAE and Dammam and Ras Al Khair in Saudi Arabia in the Middle East. In Europe, the route will connect the port of Piraeus in Greece, Messina in southern Italy and Marseille in France. Its construction will make things easier for all countries in the future
India will be directly connected to two of its most important regional partners, Jordan and Israel. If this happens, business will be easy from here
