Bihar Election 2025: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has suffered a major setback in Darbhanga during the Bihar assembly elections. Around 50 leaders of the party’s extremely backward class have resigned en masse from their posts and primary membership. These disgruntled leaders say that the most backward communities were deliberately neglected in ticket distribution and priority was given to outsider candidates with more money.

‘Party uses it only for vote bank’

These leaders, who resigned after holding a press conference in Darbhanga, made sharp allegations against the top leadership of RJD. RJD Extremely Backward Cell State Vice President Dr. Kumar Gaurav told the media that workers from extremely backward societies had been working hard for the party for years, but were sidelined when it was their turn to be represented. He regretted that the RJD always treated this community only as a vote bank, while the activists working at the grassroots level were neglected.

Dr. Kumar Gaurav said that now there is no ideology or social participation in the party, but personal flattery and economic power is everything. He also alleged that some senior leaders of Darbhanga district were only engaged in serving his and his family’s interests, and no one bothered to talk to him on phone after he was denied the ticket.

Election promises are lost, the morale of dedicated workers is broken

The resigned leaders recalled that before the elections, the party platform had announced that tickets would be given on the basis of ‘survey report’ and ‘social participation’. But according to former Zilla Parishad president and RJD leader Bhola Sahni, ‘All these advertisements were limited to speeches only.’ Bhola Sahni said that over the years the morale of dedicated and honest workers is constantly breaking and this discontent will directly hurt the RJD’s performance in the elections.

These more than 50 leaders who resigned en masse include state and district level officials, block presidents and many important leaders at the panchayat level. In political circles, this is being considered as a major setback for the RJD, as the incident has taken place when the election campaign is in full swing. These leaders have made it clear that they will soon decide on their future strategy and consider other political options.
