Captain Shreyas Iyer, who delivered Punjab Kings to the IPL 2025 final, has shocked all of them by making a big revelation. Shreyas Iyer revealed against PBKS co-owner Preeti Zinta that when he found out that he got more than Rs 20 crore during this season’s auction, he fled directly to the washroom. Shreyas Iyer was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore this season.

Punjab Kings bought Shreyas for 26.75 crores

Shreyas reached the Punjab Kings final as he performed brilliantly in IPL 2025. Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Punjab by 6 runs and seized the IPL trophy for the first time. Last season, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the title in Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy. Yet KKR released it. He landed at a base price of Rs 2 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction but Punjab Kings included him in his team for Rs 26.75 crore. He is the second most expensive player in IPL after Rishabh Pant.

Shreyas Iyer made shocking revelations

In an interview to Preeti Zinta, Shreyas Iyer said, “I was nervous in the washroom when my dialect surpassed 20 crores at the IPL 2025 mega auction.” There was a competition between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings to include Shreyas Iyer in his team. Initially, the Kolkata Knight Riders also joined them but after making a bid of Rs 10 crore, they were back.

Shreyas’ brilliant performance in IPL

The bid was continued between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals bid up to Rs 26.50 crore, but in the end, Punjab Kings had a bid of Rs 26.75 crore and included Shreyas Iyer in his team. Shreyas Iyer also performed brilliantly in the IPL 2025. He has scored 604 runs in 16 matches this season at an average of 50.33. Which includes 6 half centuries.
