Actor Kamal Haasan had said- Kannada language is born from Tamil. After this statement, the Karnataka government banned the release of his upcoming film Thug Life.
The actor has appealed to the Karnataka High Court against this decision of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC). The film is to be released nationwide on 5 June.
Kamal Haasan’s production house Raj Kamal Films International Chief Executive Officer, in the petition, has appealed to the court to direct the Karnataka Government, Police Department and Film Trade Bodies not to obstruct the release of the film. The petition also demanded the Director General of Police and the city police commissioner to ensure adequate security arrangements for screening.
KFCC said- Kamal Haasan apologize
On May 24, Kamal Haasan made a statement on Kannada language at the audio launch event of the film.
During the audio launch event of the film held on 24 May, Kamal Haasan said that Kannada language is born from Tamil. After Kamal Haasan’s statement on Kannada language came out, his opposition began all over Karnataka. His posters were burnt in many places and there was a demand to stop the release of his film.
Due to the language controversy, on May 28, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) banned the release of Kamal Haasan’s film ‘Thug Life’. KFCC President M Narasimhlu told the news agency PTI that if Kamal Haasan wants his film to be released, he would have to apologize.
Kamal Haasan said- not wrong
After receiving the warning of the film Chamber, Kamal Haasan told the media outside the headquarters of the DMK party in Chennai, this is democracy. I trust law and justice. My love for Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala is true. No one is suspicious of this, just besides those who run the agenda. I have been threatened before and if I am wrong then I will apologize, but if I am not wrong then I will not apologize.

Karnataka CM said- On the dispute, CM Siddaramaiah of Karnataka said in a statement, ‘The history of Kannada is very old. Poor Kamal Haasan is not aware of this. On this, Kamal Haasan said, ‘What I said in love. Politicians are not eligible to talk about language. They do not have the ability to talk about it, I am also involved in it.
Karnataka Minister Shivraj Tangdagi said- If the actor does not apologize, then his films will not be allowed to be released in the state. After the controversy, I wrote a letter to KFCC, after which a decision has been issued to ban his film in Karnataka.

Actually, Sonu Nigam performed at a college in Bangalore in April. Sonu Nigam was singing songs in Hindi, when some boys standing in the crowd misbehaved with them demanding them to sing in Kannada.
In response, Sonu Nigam stopped the performance in the middle and said, I did not like that there would not be a boy, who would not be as old as I have been singing Kannada songs for years. A complaint was lodged against Sonu Nigam at Aavallai police station in Bangalore for hurting the sentiments of the Kannada community. After this, the Kannada industry banned him. Sonu has also apologized for increasing the controversy, despite this, his song ‘Mansu Hadtade’ has been removed from the upcoming Kannada film ‘Kuldalli Kalyoodo’.
