World famous football superstar Lionel Messi arrived in Kolkata late on Friday night. Thousands of admirers thronged the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport on his arrival. People gathered outside the airport hours in advance to catch a glimpse of Macy’s. Messi’s visit to India is being considered special as he has once again come to Indian soil after almost 14 years.

Many fans came with Argentina flags, Messi jerseys and banners. Some people stayed up all night just to catch a glimpse.

Messi was ushered out of the VIP aisle amid heavy security, but the fans’ enthusiasm was unbridled. Children on their shoulders trying to take photos, mobile camera flashes and the lively atmosphere was creating a festive feel. Security personnel played an important role in handling the crowd.

Kolkata, already a city known for its football love, the arrival of Messi has created a wave of excitement and happiness among the fans.
Macy’s program in Kolkata
Lionel Messi’s day in Kolkata will begin with a private meet-and-greet event, which will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. This program will be for select guests only. Messi will then virtually unveil a statue of his name online, reflecting his special relationship with the city.
The biggest and special attraction of the day will be the friendly match to be held at the Yuvbharti Stadium (Salt Lake Stadium). Thousands of spectators are expected to watch this match. Messi’s program in Kolkata will be completed with a fan interaction program to be held at the same stadium.
Tickets for all these events were made available through the District App. The starting price of the ticket was kept at around Rs 4,500. Due to huge demand, most of the tickets were sold out in no time, as Kolkata prepares for one of its biggest football events in many years.
