Manitoba regulator approves hike in natural gas, Northern propane rates – Winnipeg

Manitobans are going to pay a little more for natural gas as well as propane used for home heating.

The province’s Public Utilities Board has approved the addition of natural gas by Centra Gas effective February 1.

The board says the typical residential customer’s annual bill will increase by about 2.6 percent, or $15 a year.

It says the increase is being driven by higher procurement costs.

The board also approved an increase in propane sold by Stitco for heating in Thompson, Flin Flon and Snow Lake that will begin Feb. 1.

For the average residential customer, the increase comes to about 9.7 percent, or $165 per year.
