Candidates for 2025 Elections
In the 2025 elections, the three main parties, Aam Aadmi Party, BJP and Congress are going to fight from this seat. In this election, AAP has given ticket to Somesh Shaukin who left Congress. BJP has fielded Sandeep Sehrawat in place of Rajesh Gehlot. While Congress has made Raghuvinder Shaukin as its candidate. However, 13 candidates are in the fray from this seat. A total of 35 people had registered their candidature from here. But the nominations of 22 were rejected and the nominations of some were cancelled.
Last election performance
Candidates of Congress, BJP and Aam Aadmi Party have won the last four elections in Matiala assembly constituency. In 2008, Congress candidate Sumesh Shaukin won from this seat for the first time. In 2013, BJP candidate Rajesh Gehlot became MLA. In 2015, Aam Aadmi Party candidate Gulab Singh won. Then in the 2020 election also AAP candidate Gulab Singh won and became MLA. He defeated BJP’s Rajesh Gehlot.
