The complainant says there is no evidence that a person accused of murdering a popular Vancouver Park Cartier suffers from mental state.

The complainant Colin Smith made the comment as he argued that Crown’s closed arguments at the 54-year-old Brent White’s second-degree murder hearing.

On December 10, 2021, White was not convicted of killing 77 -year -old Justice Daniel, who was found with more than 40 knife wounds at his caretaker at Tatlo Park.

On Monday, White lawyer Brent Anderson told the court that his client had not made any attempt to cover his track. White was arrested three months after the murder, still in the possession of Daniel’s bloody knife and shoes.

“There is no rational basis for Mr. White to lie about his belief. I will submit that a sensible person will not create a strange account like this and expects him to trust, “Anderson told the court.

White has clearly chosen not to protect mental illness, however, his lawyer told the court that there was amazing evidence that his client’s murder was a “damaged mental state”.

BC Supreme Court Judge Miriam Maisanville has not ordered an assessment to determine whether White is not criminalally responsible by a mental disorder at this time.

Meesonvill has reserved his verdict for a later date.
