Snow storage facilities of NT Natario are experiencing stress as this winter record breaking snowstorms continue the infrastructure in the test.
Cities are still cleaning after back-to-back snow, territories like Water Tarlu are being pushed to their limits, crew overtime, draws resources and concerns about how to handle future snow.
City Transportation Services Director Bob Henderson said that currently, the capacity of waterloo snow is more than 60 percent, 30,000 cubic meters of snow have already led to the already designated sites, said Bob Henderson, the city’s transportation service director.
Despite these efforts, there are still a lot of snow left and left to transport to storage facilities, which are quickly filled, he added.
“The amount of ice found this season was unprecedented,” Henderson told Global News.
“This city is responding using all available resources, internal and contract, 24-7.”

City officials are already evaluating the need for more ice storage facilities if the city has to face the possibility of additional snowfall next week.

A spokeswoman for the city added, “If there is another significant snowfall, we will need to re -evaluate our ability and find other options.”
The municipality is preparing the contingent plans to ensure that the snow continues easily, but the amount of snowfall presented this year has become a growing concern for future winter weather operations.
The situation is not specific to the waterloo.

The city of Toronto, in which most of the snow fallen last month will be cleared in three weeks, is now approaching that timeframe – and it is still yet to be done.
By Wednesday, the city has removed 13,999 loads over a seven -day period.
“The snow removal of this scale is not typical,” said Barbara Gray, general manager of the transportation service.

With five snow storage facilities and 450 dump trucks assigned for ice transport, the city is working twenty -four hours to meet the job.
“Removal of snow is a very slow dynamic operation. It is necessary to collect our crew snow and move them to the designated storage sites, which will take up to three weeks, “Gray said.
While there has been some progress, there are still more roads left.
With heavy snow falling throughout the region, Toronto’s ice storage operations are under pressure more than ever.
“We have not seen such a situation since January 2022,” Gray said at a press conference last week.
