In Lucknow, the Department of Transport has taken strict action against Indian cricketer Akash Deep Singh and Car dealer Messers Sunny Motors at Chinhat. The department has issued a cause notice to the dealership under Rule 44 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989.
It is alleged that the dealership was delivered to Akash Deep, a new Toyota Fortuner buyer without completing the registration process and the high security number plate (HSRP) and third registration mark.
A preliminary investigation revealed
According to the ARTO Lucknow investigation and record of the vehicle portal, the sale of the vehicle was announced on August 7, 2025, the insurance was done on August 8, 2025, but the road tax has not yet been paid and the registration process is incomplete. However, the vehicle was seen running on public roads.
Warning and suspension of dealerships
Messrs. Sunny Motors (Trade Certificate Number: UP32TC0664A -E) has been given 14 days to give a legally appropriate explanation. If they do not do so, the process of canceling their trade certificate will be taken. The department has temporarily suspended the dealership license for a month.
Restrictions on vehicle owner
Akashdeep Singh has been sent a notice of ban use under sections 39, 41 (6) and 207 of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988. They have been instructed not to drive on the road until they get registration, HSRP and third registration mark and valid insurance. In case of violation, the vehicle will be confiscated and legal action will be taken.
Strict action from the department
The department says that if the celebrity breaks the rules, it gives the wrong message in the society and weakens the culture of the law. So no one will be counted above the law. The Department of Transport has appealed to vehicle owners and dealers to complete the registration and HSRP before the delivery of the vehicle and not to put the vehicle on the road only on the basis of invoices and insurance.
Under stringent action, the Lucknow Transport Department has canceled 8322 vehicles permits. 738 permits have been suspended for 45 days and notice has been issued to 1200 permit holders, whose validity has expired more than seven years ago.
