An Indian soldier has died fighting on behalf of Russia in the Russia-Ukraine war. One of his relatives is seriously injured. The deceased soldier has been identified as 32-year-old Binil TB, a resident of Vadakkancheri town in Thrissur district of Kerala. His injured relative has been identified as 27-year-old Jain TK. Both are residents of the same place.

A few days ago, Binil’s family received a message that two people were injured in a drone attack, but they could not establish contact with them. Sanish, a relative of the two soldiers, said Binil’s wife Joyce is in constant touch with the Indian embassy in Moscow for information. When he called the authorities, they told him that Binal had died. Officials said they received the information from the Russian military.

Several Indians were trapped in the Russian army

Ajit Kolassery, Chief Executive Officer of NORKA ROOTS, the state government’s agency dealing with non-resident Keralites, said, ‘We heard about the incident. We are awaiting its final approval from the Ministry of External Affairs. We have been trying to bring him back for the past few months. We don’t know exactly how many people from Kerala are still trapped in the Russian army. It is only when such people call in distress that we come to know about the incident.

The doors of the Indian Embassy were knocked

According to media reports, Binil and Jain T have been desperate to go home for the past few months. He said that he has been knocking the doors of the Indian Embassy since September 2024 on this issue. Binil said in his last message that he was being forced to fight on the frontline of the war, putting his life in danger.

He is sent to Russia after being cheated with the youth

Before Binal and Jain, an Indian named Sandeep was also killed in a drone attack in 2024. Many Indian youths like Binil and Jain went to Russia hoping to get jobs as electricians, cooks, drivers and plumbers in the Russian army. However, their passports were confiscated and they were forcibly conscripted into the army.
