In the 18th season of the IPL, the BCCI has introduced a new rule under which the batsman will have to examine his bat before going to the crease. The umpires have a groove made according to the rules of the bat from which the batsman can only play with the bats.
Many batsmen fail in this and have added one more recent name to Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer. The Punjab team will play a reverse match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata today.
In this match, Iyer won the toss and decided to bat first. Priyanka Arya and Prabhasimaran Singh gave the team a strong start. The captain came when Priyanka was out.
Shreyas Iyer’s bat did not get success
As soon as Iyer arrives on the field, the umpire checked his bat. The umpire pulled the slot and passed the bat from it but this did not happen and the umpire did not allow Aiyar’s bat. Then Iyer sent his bat out and asked for another bat. The umpire also checked the bat and found it to be true and Iyer played with him again. Iyer finally scored a goal to make his team a strong score, which was founded by Priyanka and Prabhasimaran.
Prabhasimran missed the century
Priyanka and Prabhasimran arrived as soon as the storm caused the storm. The two made Kolkata’s bowling attack neutral. Both partnerships 120 for the first wicket. On the fifth ball of the 12th over, Priyanka Andre Russell’s bowling was caught out by Vaibhav Arora. After his departure, Prabhasimran Singh batted fast. It seemed that Prabhasimran would complete his century, but he failed.
On the third ball of the 15th over, Vaibhav caught him at the hands of Rowman Powell. Prabhasiman played 83 off 49 balls with 6 fours and 6 sixes. Iyer scored an unbeaten 25 off 16 balls with one four and a six.
What do IPL rules say?
IPL chairman Arun Dhumal said the move has been taken to ensure fair competition on the field. No one should feel that the batsmen are benefiting. According to the rules, the player’s bat should correspond to the IPL standards, where the width of the bat should be 4.25 inches (10.8 cm), depth 2.64 inches (6.7 cm) and the edges 1.56 inches (4.0 cm).
