Young Indian badminton players Tanvi Sharma and Ayush Shetty have made it to the final of the US Open Super 300 Badminton Tournament.
India’s 16-year-old non-ranked player Tanvi entered the finals by defeating Ukraine’s seventh-ranked Bolina Buharova in the semifinals of the women’s singles, defeating 21-14, 21-16 in a straight set in 34 minutes. This is the second win against Tanvi’s Ukraine player. Tanvi will face America’s top ranked player Baiven Zhang in the final. In the men’s singles, India’s fourth-seeded player Ayush defeated top-ranked and sixth-ranked Chinese Taipei Chow Chian Cheon in the tournament by defeating 21-23, 21-15 and 21-14 in the match that lasted more than an hour. Ayush will now face Canada’s third -seeded Brian Yang. Yang defeated Chinese Taipei’s Liao Zoo-Fu 21-10, 21-12 in a straight set. It is worth mentioning that in the quarter-finals, Tanvi defeated Malaysian player Karupathvan Letashana 21-13,21-16, while Ayush defeated Chinese Taipei’s junior world champion Kuan Lin 22-20,21-9.
