Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025 started on November 26, with many big stars of Team India participating. In the match played at Ekana Cricket Stadium ‘B’ in Lucknow, Kerala defeated Odisha by 10 wickets with the help of Sanju Samson and his teammate Rohan. Batting first, Odisha scored 176 for 7 in 20 overs. In reply, Kerala’s opening pair made the match completely one-sided, achieving the target in just 16.3 overs.

In fact, Rohan and Sanju’s unbeaten partnership of 177 runs became the highest opening partnership in the history of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The pair broke the previous record of 174 runs set by Gujarat’s Urvil Patel and Arya Desai. Not only this, but this also became the fourth highest partnership for any wicket in the history of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Sanju scored a brilliant half-century
In this record partnership, Rohan played a blistering innings of 121 not out off 60 balls, while captain Sanju Samson supported him with 51 off 41 balls. Samson hit six fours and one six in his half-century. Kerala will now face Railways in their second match, which will be played in Lucknow on November 28.
