Mohammad Shami is returning to the team for the first time since the 2023 World Cup. After recovering from the injury, he was seen playing in the Ranji Trophy and T20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Apart from this he is currently playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He was not selected for the Australia tour due to knee inflammation.
Dhruv Jurrell got a chance
Rishabh Pant did not get a place in the team. Dhruv Jurrell has been selected as the second wicketkeeper in the team. In-form Sanju Samson will be the first choice wicketkeeper-batsman. Rishabh Pant did not get a place. Apart from this, Gill also did not get a chance. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who performed well in Australia, has also been included in the T20 squad. Due to injury, Ryan Parag did not get a chance in the team.
