The mayor of NTario City’s house, one of the most notorious prisons of Canada, says that converting it into accommodation one day can be eaten in its economy.

Brian Patterson told Global News that Kingston has a housing requirement, while Kingston transforms the penitentary site – which TT Tova says that it may be appropriate for housing – it would be a loss of city financial matters.

He said, “This particular property has great advantages for tourism and film, and we want to make sure that it does not have an impact.”

“We are always happy to discuss more opportunities for accommodation, but again, there are a lot of federal government properties that we think will be a great candidate.”

Patterson’s comments have come after the Federal government publicly announced that Kingston Pen-one former maximum security prison, which has notorious criminals like Paul Bernardo-is likely to be accommodation.

TT Towa added the place, which has been operating as a jailhouse for 178 years, in Canada Public Land Bank – a federal initiative to convert surplus and federal public land into affordable housing.

Kingston and Liberal MP from the islands Mark Geresesen said the first step in the List of TT Towana Prison House is the first step.

“It needs to be turned into Canada Lands with improvement, and then we can actually push the opportunities to create a long -term lease with the city,” he said.

“I don’t think it is a blur that this will break or anything like that. On the other hand, this is a good opportunity for the city to put a good case forward to getting a long -term lease for property. “

Megan Note, CEO of Tourism Kingston, echoed the spirit, saying that the cultural and economic value of the prison cannot be ignored.

“The Kingston penitensory was condemned as its common use, since the community has used it to be able to be able to be a property,” said Nott.

“Certainly, the tourism may have played the biggest role in being able to re -imagine what it looks like.”
