Elections to the United Nations Security Council of 2025 will be held in New York City at mid -2025 during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly at the United Nations Headquarters. India told the UN Security Council that it had discussed various issues related to bilateral relations with the Taliban rule. India said that ‘special’ people-to-people relations are the ‘foundation’ of the current connection between India and Afghanistan. Harish, a standing representative Ambassador to India in the UN, said at the UN Aid Mission (UNAMA) in Afghanistan at the United Nations Security Meeting that Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had earlier interviewed Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister Maulvi Amir Khan Mutti in Dubai.
Thinking of joining India’s development projects
Harish said in the Council, “Both sides discussed various issues related to bilateral relations as well as regional development. The Afghanistan party praised the Indian leadership for joining and supporting the Afghan people and thanked that India would consider joining the ongoing human assistance programs in Afghanistan as well as being involved in development projects in the near future.
Look at the status of Afghanistan
Since the Taliban occupied Afghanistan in 2021, the meeting between Egypt and Muttaki in January was the highest contact between India and the Taliban. Harish emphasized that the relationship between India and Afghanistan is centuries old and as our neighboring country, the people of India and Afghanistan have a unique relationship that is the foundation of “our current affiliation with the country”. Harish said that India was closely monitoring the situation in Afghanistan and actively involved in regional and international efforts to maintain stability and peace in the country.
What is India’s perspective?
The Indian ambassador said, “Our comprehensive approach is to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan and to create an international consensus to solve various issues between the authorities and international communities in Afghanistan. India told the UN body to provide Health, Food Security, Education and Skills in Afghan. “Our development partnership includes more than 500 projects in Afghanistan, with 27 tonnes of relief, 40 thousand liters of pesticides and more than 300 tonnes.”
