Ration Card: The government has taken measures after shortage of wheat in ration shops in Tamil Nadu. The state government has assured that supply of wheat will start at all ration shops by mid-November. AIADMK General Secretary E.K. Palaniswami complained about shortage of wheat stock in shops, after which the government assured to ensure supply till November 15.
Wheat is not available in 12,573 ration shops
AIADMK General Secretary Palaniswami claimed that wheat was not available in 12,573 ration shops in Tamil Nadu. Regarding this, State Food and Civil Supplies Minister R. Sakkarpani said that the state government has been continuously requesting the Center to allocate more wheat. He said that from January 2024 to September 2024, the central government had sent only 8,576 metric tonnes of wheat. Chief Minister M.K. At Stalin’s request, the wheat allocation to the state was increased to 17,100.38 metric tonnes from October 2024 to February 2025.
100 percent wheat will be delivered to ration shops by November 15
Food and Civil Supplies Minister R. Sakkarpani issued a statement on Sunday. It said that this wheat is distributed to the common people at fair price shops without any hindrance. Now the Center has reduced the wheat quota to the earlier allocation. Sakkarpani assured that by November 15, 100 percent wheat would be delivered to the ration shops and the grain would be made available to the people without any hindrance.

Consumers appeared a bit worried due to non-availability of wheat in ration shops. However, after receiving assurance from the government, they have got some relief. They are expected to get wheat from this month.
