What is GP-SMASH?

GP-SMash is a social media monitoring and awareness project of Gujarat Police, whose main purpose is to hear the complaints, concerns and suggestions presented on social media by citizens, delivering it to the right officials quickly. Under this project, a dedicated team at the state level 24*7 monitors the posts, crimes and good works related to the police department on social media platforms.

How does GP-Smash work?

The posts tagged on the X handle of Gujarat Police are answered within minutes of the count. If these posts are associated with issues such as law and order, traffic, Prohibition, cyber -fraud or government officials, they are immediately instructed for tagging the concerned district, range or unit head, investigation and action. In addition, the details of the proceedings taken by the concerned authorities are also updated by the comment on the same post. The process is constantly monitored at the state, range and district level, so as to ensure fast and transparent removal.

310 complaints resolved in three months

The GP-SMASH team led by Law and Order DIG Deepak Meghani had delivered 335 civilian representations to the concerned authorities from March 1 to May 31, 2025. More than 310 questions have been resolved within the counting hours. Gujarat Police has received positive feedback from the complainant for this speedy operation, which shows an increase in the faith and security of the citizens.

Establishment

In a recent case, Awakened Citizen Sushilkumar Tiwari complained of rude behavior committed by a drunk person in the ongoing train by tagging the Gujarat police on the X platform. After which the GP-SMash team gave immediate response, tagging Western Railway Vadodara and Surat CP and ordered immediate action. As a result, before the train reached Surat, the intoxicated arrest was arrested from Bharuch, legal proceedings were taken.

GP-SMash is not only limited to digital monitoring, but a strong step towards a responsible and technology-related police system.
